FFA

What is FFA?

FFA is an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. The official name of the organization is the National FFA Organization. The letters “FFA” stand for Future Farmers of America. These letters are a part of our history and our heritage that will never change. But FFA is not just for students who want to be production farmers; FFA also welcomes members who aspire to careers as teachers, doctors, scientists, business owners and more. For this reason, the name of the organization was updated in 1988 after a vote of national convention delegates to reflect the growing diversity and new opportunities in the industry of agriculture.

FFA is organized at the local, state, and national levels. Local chapters are typically found within schools with agricultural education programs, and these chapters are organized under state associations. FFA membership is open to students enrolled in agricultural education programs.

Activities

FFA offers a variety of activities, including classroom instruction, leadership and career development programs, supervised agricultural experience projects (like raising livestock or growing crops), and participation in competitions (area, region, state, and national levels).

Today, almost half a million student members are engaged in a wide range of agricultural education activities, leading to over 300 career opportunities in the food, fiber and natural resources industry. Student success remains the primary mission of FFA.

Vision of FFA

Growing the next generation of leaders who will change the world.

Mission of FFA

FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.

Motto of FFA

Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve.
