Entrepreneurship
Do you dream of changing the world with the next best product or service? Do you want to climb the corporate ladder to the top? Learn how to develop your leadership and business management skills through the entrepreneurship program.
Students who enroll in the Entrepreneurship program will be equipped to become confident problem-solvers who can recognize opportunities, think critically, design innovative solutions, and pursue opportunities with purpose. Students will explore three areas of study: Entrepreneurship Essentials, The Entrepreneurial Venture, and Advanced Entrepreneurial Strategies to help them organize and operate their own start-up business. In this course students will refer to their completed Business Model Canvas to analyze their entrepreneurial venture and make strategic plans for growing their customer base, expanding their product line, or even pivoting to improve market share and revenue streams. In addition, employability skills are integrated into activities and projects to demonstrate the skills required by business and industry.
Throughout the course, students work in teams to develop their own start-up concept, conduct customer discovery, build a business model, and present a professional pitch. Emphasis is placed on creativity, critical thinking, communication, ethical decision-making, and resilience. By the end of the course, students will have a foundational understanding of how start-ups operate and the confidence to apply entrepreneurial thinking in college, careers, and everyday problem-solving.
A career in business and administration involves business and financial planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating business functions essential to efficient and productive business operations, general management, business information management, human resources management, operations management, and administrative support. Program participants will have an opportunity to gain industry certifications in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
This program embeds a 4th year Language Arts course for graduation and Board of Regents admission requirements. Students in this program can also earn dual enrollment credit.
