Graphic Design

Graphic Design is for the creative student with a keen interest in the principles of visual art and design and a love for computer technology.

This in-depth program will provide a hands-on introduction to cutting edge digital tools and communication techniques, giving you new ways to explore and express your creativity in an ever-increasing digital world!

You will learn the foundational knowledge and skills required in graphic design and apply those principles to print and digital media. In our dedicated design studio, you will use industry-standard Adobe Creative Suite software on a daily basis to achieve effectively designed products. You will gain experience with the following Adobe programs: Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.

Individual and team projects will include logo design, digital illustration, menu layout, book cover design, poster design, character design & development, package design, magazine layout, t-shirt design, print production, and more! You will develop a creative portfolio of your work as you apply for college programs or entry-level positions in the field. Graphic design will be taught from the problem-solving and storytelling perspective through the act of developing sketches, storyboards, and mind-maps to virtually bring your unique creations to life.

In addition to high-paying traditional careers in graphic design, web production, and adverting, professionals in fields like science, medicine, law, business, and architecture are now incorporating graphic design. Students pursuing a career in the field of graphic design will have excellent opportunities to utilize their skills with the many companies located in Atlanta and throughout the Southeast.

Students in the Graphic Design Program are enrolled in the Graphic Design Pathway. Students complete the following courses: Introduction to Graphics & Design, Graphic Design Production, Advanced Graphic Design, and embedded Language Arts. Concluding the program, students have the unique opportunity to become certified in Adobe Illustrator through the Adobe Certified Associate Illustrator exam.
